For weeks I have followed a Canada goose couple as they raise their goslings.
Back in March I noticed a goose paddling across the pond in a nearby park without its mate in site. I headed to the side where a little island is closer to the shore. Sure enough, the other goose was evidently sitting on eggs in a small depression.
My wife and I have enjoyed watching the little ones grow up. The most impressive sight is the watchfulness of the adults and the obedience of the goslings.
There is a lesson for every human family in the protectiveness of the geese and their careful herding of the little ones.
