Clergy Supporting Science: Pictures from the Marches

in Culture
Clergy members played a significant role in both the March for Science and the Peoples Science March.  Here's a selection of photos from around the country submitted by members of The Clergy Letter Project demonstrating clergy support for science.

Reverend Beth Galbreath, a United Methodist minister from Woodbridge, IL, shared these three pictures from the Chicago march:

Reverend Judy Young, a United Methodist minister from Derwood, MD, shared these three pictures from the march in DC:

And Reverend Joan Henjum, a United Church of Christ minister from Seattle shared these three pictures from the Seattle march:

Finally, let me end by sharing the final paragraph of a document entitled "Science as the Voice of God" written by Rev. Joan Henjum and Rev. Gary Southerton, with input from Rev. Meighan Pritchard and Rev. Andrew Conley-Holcom:

We appreciate how science gives voice to the natural world, how it helps us make sense of the world’s workings.  And we want to listen, ever more closely, to what God is saying through the environment and all its creatures.   So!  People of faith marched in the Science March.  We were expressing our appreciation for the scientific method and its findings, and building partnership for serving and preserving life on the planet.

Indeed, many clergy members are the best of friends with science and scientists!
